Banning things has been the hallmark of our society; we ban a lot of things. The problem is banning stuff doesn’t always help though bring down the cause holistically does, it does take time though. In Abortion, we have tried to do the same, without actually realizing that we live in a diverse society and what can be moral for one person might not be moral or might be necessary to be done for another person. About the procurement of firearms, when banning is propounded we generally the argument that banning would not stop criminals from using them but banning abortion will have a sound effect even when it is not a crime. All this will not ban abortion; it will only ban safe abortion. Many of us believe that bringing down the reasons for abortion can have a better effect than banning abortion itself; it’s like forcing a woman to have a child because she got pregnant. Promoting sex education and aiming to decline the unintended pregnancies might be a better way. Let's work towards that, let's actually be pro-life, not just pro-birth.
There are innumerable reasons why a woman wants to have an abortion, in many cases it seems inevitable and the need is a safer and effective method. Abortion Pills are gaining momentum over other techniques of abortion as they offer safety, efficacy, privacy, and low cost of these pills, they no doubt are less painful and are very convenient to take as well. Abortion Pills have two FDA approved drugs namely Mifepristone (200mg) or Misoprostol (200mcg). Some brands have single drug and some have combinations. The most popular Mifepristone alone brands are RU486, Mifeprex, Mifegyne, Korlym. The most popular Misoprostol brand is Cytotec and the brand containing both is MTP Kit. The single drug brands must be used for only those pregnancies which are less than 7 weeks old and the combination brand can be used up to 9 weeks. Do not use any of these pills unless the doctor prescribes.
Mifepristone is an antiprogestin category drug exerts its effects by inhibiting a hormone called Progesterone (an essential pregnancy hormone) which helps the fetus grow and develop by supplying oxygen and nutrients, its blockade results in fetal cell death. Misoprostol implements rigorous narrowing of the uterine wall, which expels these cells out of the body in form of a blood clot.
Mifepristone brands contain 3 pills which are taken orally with water on an empty stomach, preferably during the early morning. After waiting for two days, go to a hospital and get the abortion validated. If in case complete abortion is not executed, take two Misoprostol (200mcg) pills by inserting them vaginally and after 2 days visit a doctor to verify the abortion again.
Misoprostol brands have 12 pills of Misoprostol 200mcg each, which should be taken in three divided doses in a group of four. You should take these pills in an evenly spaced time gap of 4 hours either through vaginal or oral route. After two days, get the process confirmed.
MTP Kit (Mifepristone + Misoprostol) contains five pills, one Mifepristone pill (200mg) which is taken on the first day orally, on an empty stomach and four Misoprostol 200mcg each pill which are taken after two days of the ingestion of the first pill either by oral or vaginal route of administration. On the fourteenth day, get your abortion confirmed.
Certain side effects of this medication are diarrhea, nausea, exhaustion, back pain, stomach cramp or pain, vaginal bleeding, wooziness, headache, and vomiting.
